Artifact Space by Miles Cameron

Out in the darkness of space, something is targeting the Greatships.

With their vast cargo holds and a crew that could fill a city, the Greatships are the lifeblood of human-occupied space, transporting an unimaginable volume - and value - of goods from City, the greatest human orbital, all the way to Tradepoint at the other, to trade for xenoglas with an unknowable alien species.

Welcome to our newly upgraded site!, we've been working on getting to this point for the last year and a half, so slightly delayed there. Nevertheless we're finally have a basic site for you to see and we're pretty exited about it. Aside from the aesthetic changes the main change is the drop-down menu bar which should allow for a better browsing experience all round.

Whilst we still have to build more pages for anthologies etc. there should still be more than enough to get you started.

It's great to begin something new with a bit a of class and colour, and our first two books in this update certainly fit the bill, we start with N.K. Jemisin's conclusion to 'The Inheritance Trilogy' from Subterranean Press. These are oversized volumes and the dust jacket and interior illustrations are again by Reiko Murakami - stunning

The Kingdom of Gods by N. K. Jemisin

Sieh the Trickster, a billion-years-old child and first godling grandson of the fearsome, universe-spawning Maelstrom, plays too hard with a mortal brother and sister and falls in love.  When a strange accident strips Sieh of his powers these two royal scions of the Arameri dynasty--the family who once enslaved Sieh and his father--must literally move heaven and earth to save him, while the implacable vengeance of a neglected deity threatens to shred all existence to rags.

In The Kingdom of Gods, the glorious conclusion to N.K. Jemisin’s Inheritance Trilogy, death, lust, betrayal, and mercy collide.  With unhesitating skill and deep empathy the author depicts a life turning from dream to reality, from mockery to maturity, from making wishes to making truth.

Suntup Editions have become a mainstay of ours over the last year or two and we've just pre-ordered their lastest offering 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' which looked irresistible! Well, that's still some time to come, but check out their wonderful artist edition of the H.G.Wells classic:

The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells; a classic work of early science fiction that remains one of the author’s most disturbing and unforgettable novels. When Edward Prendick is rescued from a shipwreck, he is left on a nearby island and soon discovers the home of the depraved Doctor Moreau, a mad scientist conducting unspeakable animal experiments with hideous, human-like results.

While gene-splicing and bioengineering are common practices today, Wells’s haunting vision raised ethical questions more than a century before our time. Originally published in 1896, Wells’s story reflects the scientific controversies disrupting the societal norm in the late 1800s, including increased opposition to animal vivisection and growing discussion of Darwinism and the degeneration of the human race.

With its themes of cruelty, moral responsibility, and man’s interference with nature, The Island of Doctor Moreau is one of Wells’s most important and thought-provoking explorations on what makes us human.

Last year Centipede Press introduced us to Ray Garton, who reinvented the vampire mythos with 'Live Girls' alost 25 years ago, and he clearly felt compelled to do the same to the Werewolf curse back in 2008. Gauntlet Press have recently issued this limited edition of Ravenous, to be followed by it's sequel 'Bestial' next year.

Ravenous by Ray Garton

When Emily Crane’s car breaks down on a dark, lonely road at night, she is attacked and raped by a man she kills in self-defense. That night, the dead rapist walks out of the morgue. Later, Emily begins to experience strange cravings and her body undergoes terrifying changes.

When brutal killings leave victims partially eaten in the northern California coastal town of Big Rock, Sheriff Arlin Hurley scoffs at the talk of werewolves . . . until a tuft of wolf’s fur is found on a victim. It soon becomes clear that whatever is responsible for the killings, it is not alone. There are more than one. And they are doing something much worse than killing and eating people.

This is the SciFi debut for Cameron who is well known for his historical and fantasy novels, judging from the feedback on Goodreads, this title has been very well received so far...

It has always been Marca Nbaro's dream to achieve the near-impossible: escape her upbringing and venture into space.

All it took, to make her way onto the crew of the Greatship Athens was thousands of hours in simulators, dedication, and pawning or selling every scrap of her old life in order to forge a new one. But though she's made her way onboard with faked papers, leaving her old life - and scandals - behind isn't so easy.

She may have just combined all the dangers of her former life, with all the perils of the new . . .

There was an on-line charity booksale the other day and we optioned in on a blind auction for a first edition copy of Jack Finney's 'The Body Snatchers'.  Our initial bid was rejected but a few days later we got a call from the charity stating that the other buyers had pulled out as the dust jacket was missing and the book was covered with laminate.

Well we bought the book anyway and here it is, the true 1955 first edition, the cover under the laminate is from the Dell 1955 first paperback edition.

We promptly got hold of Facsimile Dust Jackets and they provided the stunning new jacket for the book which we're pretty pleased with!

The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne

Set in a brand-new, Norse-inspired world, and packed with myth, magic and bloody vengeance, The Shadow of the Gods begins an epic new fantasy saga from bestselling author John Gwynne.

After the gods warred and drove themselves to extinction, the cataclysm of their fall shattered the land of Vigrið.

Now a new world is rising, where power-hungry jarls feud and monsters stalk the woods and mountains. A world where the bones of the dead gods still hold great power for those brave - or desperate - enough to seek them out.

Now, as whispers of war echo across the mountains and fjords, fate follows in the footsteps of three people: a huntress on a dangerous quest, a noblewoman who has rejected privilege in pursuit of battle fame, and a thrall who seeks vengeance among the famed mercenaries known as the Bloodsworn.

All three will shape the fate of the world as it once more falls under the shadow of the gods . . .
